GOOD BYE 2011

Happy New Year family, friends and fans!
I gotta be honest, 2011 year started off with a LOT of "not so positive" things.  I brought in the new year broken hearted, scared, furious, lost, embarrassed, and a lot of other things.  At that particular time, the fact that I had a 3 year old happy and healthy amazing little girl, a healthy husband who had a great and secure job that provided well for my daughter and me, and friends and family who were willing to be there for me really didn't make me feel any better about the way 2010 ended and I was too hurt to make me feel very hopeful about 2011.

2011 has actually been amazing and I only have God to thank for it.  My daughter is simply amazing, made it to the age of 4 with never being sick and is becoming an even more amazing little gal.  My husband works so very hard STILL and his work made it possible to continue MY work as a photographer with new and better equipment for 2012.  My friends are still there for me and my family has really pulled together to be a good support group for my mother who was put a nursing home (at an early age of 52) in June.

2011 has brought to me all kinds of new friends and clients and I see no reason why it won't continue for me in 2012.  KC Photography only had 500 fans in March 2011.  It now has over 2,000!    Thank you!

So, not sure what 2012 will bring, but unlike last year--I'm not scared of the new year and what it brings.  I've always told people to never lose the "spirit" you have and last year I almost lost it.  Well, almost doesn't count I guess!

Cheers to the New Year !

Cutest Family ever!

We had to reschedule our original shoot because the little guy bumped his face.  They were totally worth the wait. Holy cow these boys are fantastic.  Mom and dad are pretty cool, too.  I sure hope they had a good time because I know I did.  Here are only a FEW of some really fun and cute shots!

Ava turns 1 !

Other than LOVING the name "Ava" (I actually considered it a tiny bit when I thought Ronnie would never go for the name that I had chosen when I was pregnant), this little girl was the cutest little thing!  Lyndsey is one proud mamma and has another little pretty girl on the way!  They're a very lucky family and I had SUCH  a good time photographing this little one!

New cousin Remi

I just love babies, especially when they're genetically related to yours truly!  :)

Brandy is my cousin and she was blessed with a brand new baby girl--Remi!  Her older son, Drew, has THE best red hair and I was kind of hoping Remi would follow suit and have red hair, too, but she didn't.  Oh well, she's as CUTE as can be.  See, look for yourself :)

Walker Family

Lacey had her appointment with me for a very long time (I love a girl who thinks ahead!).  They showed up in their football jerseys which I thought was SO cute (even though it was World Series time..LOL).  Lacey and her kids are SO photogenic!   They each have their own fantastic personalities!!  Here are some of my faves!

Abi--(my birthday shoot was amazing!)--Farmington Senior High

When Laura, Abi's mother, emailed me, she requested senior photos for her daughter ASAP.  Well, the ONLY day off I had for a very long time was my birthday, 10/27.  Before October even began, I was completely booked!  I only left Monday's open (because my daughter dances on Monday evenings) and left my birthday open, naturally.  I'm such a softy.  I figured "what the heck!  Do what you LOVE on your birthday!"
When Abi showed up, I got SO excited.  I love photographing red heads and she is AMAZING looking and she smiled a big wide genuine smile at me.  I thought to myself "glad I didn't let her go!"  We had so much fun and she warms up to you very fast.   Thanks, Abi, for being a part of my 34th birthday!  It was a blast.  Here are only a few of some amazing shots this senior provided!

Kindsey--Fredericktown Senior Rep 2012

What can I say about Kindsey? Well, I shot her a few months back and was SO excited to shoot her again for the Fall.  I had been watching the weather (which is WRONG 85% of the time) and it was calling for HIGH winds.  I just HATE the wind, most photographers do--ESPECIALLY when photographing senior GIRLS.  They spend so much time getting their hair JUST right and then mother nature has to put her edge on it.  Kindsey made it work though.  She showed up looking AHHH-MAAZZZZZ-INNNGGGG.  I am SO lucky to have the best looking clients!  Makes my job even easier!  Here are my faves.   (Yes, it's always hard to just post a few!).

Fear the Mohawk! T&P

"Wow" is a short word but is definitely a  word that can be used when referring to those girls at Triplett and Propst dance studio.  With their fierce mohawks and striking poses, they can make anyone jaws drop in amazement!  I got the privilege of photographing them this weekend.  Here are some of my favorite shots!

First Pic-Blog

Well, an actual blog with a PHOTO.  yay!  Well, today was the first time shooting in my home, professionally.  Holland is such a beautiful little girl and she deserves the BEST photographer--which was NOT me today.  I was lucky to use an extremely good lens, the Canon 17-40 f/4 L, but I could NOT get it to perform where I wanted it to.  Yes, I had gotten it in the mail at 2 pm and the shoot was at 3:30, so maybe that's the problem.  Maybe it was because Rumer, my WONDERFUL babygirl, was lying all over me while I tried to get the shot.  Luckily, Holland's mom and grandma are very understanding and "get" why I asked them to come over today!
One day, folks, it'll be ME who gets the perfect shot.
Here's a shot from today.  Honestly, you can't go wrong with a girl as pretty as this!

My First Post!

Well it only makes sense to actually make a POST, right?  Well this is my first post!

I learned so much at WPPI in Las Vegas.  Lighting, business, marketing, f-stops, flash, exposure, the list goes on.  I also had an amazing roommate, Kimberli Ransom, who offered up her insight and expertise and I'm so grateful.   The convention was endless.  Impossible to actually see and hear everything.  Overwhelming but completely inspiring.  I didn't even get out of the MGM Grand hotel/casino except for ONE time (in 5 days)!  I think the weather was nice, but I couldn't swear to it.  I've returned to Missouri with SO many ideas.  I have a regained and heightened appreciation for photography!
